Global Passport Ranking 2026: UK Passport Remains in the World’s Top 10
According to the Global Passport Index 2026 published by Global Citizen Solutions, the United Kingdom passport continues to rank among the world’s most powerful passports, securing 8th place globally. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese passport has also shown encouraging progress, improving its position in international rankings.
UK Passport Ranked 8th in the Global Passport Index 2026
The Global Passport Index 2026 ranks passports based on three key criteria:
- International mobility.
- Investment and business environment.
- Quality of life.
The UK passport is ranked 8th worldwide, reflecting its strong overall performance across these categories.
Currently, British citizens can travel to 186 countries and territories without obtaining a visa in advance or by benefiting from simplified entry procedures, depending on the destination’s immigration regulations. This makes the UK passport one of the most valuable travel documents for those who frequently travel, study, work, or invest internationally.
Meanwhile, in the Henley Passport Index, which ranks passports solely based on visa-free travel access, the UK passport is jointly ranked 7th alongside Australia, Latvia, and Liechtenstein.

Europe Continues to Dominate the World’s Most Powerful Passports
The 2026 rankings show that nine of the world’s top ten passports belong to European countries, highlighting the region’s continued strengths in global mobility, economic stability, and quality of life.
